Heaven is for Real Author Todd Burpo shares update Son Colton 14years after Heaven visit (Exclusive)

ARTICLE: Heaven is for Real Author Todd Burpo shares update son Colton 14years after Heaven visit (Exclusive)

Colton Burpo was just four years old when he visited Heaven, met Jesus, saw angels, and watched Mary kneel before the throne of God after slipping from consciousness while having his appendix removed in an emergency operation.
The little boy’s extraordinary experience was later re-told in a 2010 book his by his parents, Rev. Todd and Sonja Burpo, titled “Heaven is for Real.” The book quickly garnered international attention, spending 52 weeks on the New York Times bestseller list and 44 weeks at number one.
In 2014, “Heaven is for Real” was turned into a movie by Joe Roth and Bishop TD Jakes, making a staggering $101.3 million at the Box Office.

Fourteen years after Colton’s miraculous encounter, The Gospel Herald caught up with Todd Burpo to get an update on the little boy whose story continues to move millions.
GH) It’s nearly been a decade since you wrote “Heaven is for Real.” What’s Colton up to today?
TB: He’s 18 and he’s started his freshman years of college. He’s really gifted in music and he sure didn’t get that from me, we’re pretty convinced God gave him a special gifting. He’s really pursuing a worship ministry and wanting to grow in that, and we’re really proud of that. That’s what he’s working on now.
GH) How has your life changed since the success of “Heaven is for Real”?
TB: There’s nothing that hasn’t changed. If anything, we have moments where we try to be normal as a family, we do our work, I’m still doing my job, my wife still works with children, but there are moments where you just have to stop. You write, you stop, you speak, you stop, you go home and we try to be mom and dad just like any other family. My youngest son last week had surgery, he broke his arm in football and now we’re helping to nurse him and we’re praying for God to heal that arm.
In some ways, I went from being unknown by most people — you don’t live in a town of 2,000 people and preach there for 20 years if you’re seeking attention — and so, “Heaven is for Real” thrust us into a spotlight we never anticipated. We knew God wanted us to write the book, but we never saw the success of the book coming, that surprised us. Yet at the same time, we said, “God, this is your plan, and we’re going to make the best of it.” But, we really fight for our normal time. My wife, she’s the keeper of the calendar, and her nickname is Mama Bear. She tries to protect the family time and does a great job at it. So, most people when they need us would never guess we’re different, because we’re really not.
GH) Do you still deal with skeptics who doubt your family’s story? What do you say to them?
TB: We always will have skeptics, there’s no way to get around that. Colton’s response is the best: I remember when he was 12, he was asked by someone who was interviewing him about Stephen Hawking’s book “There is No Heaven.” This person on a major news channel said, “Colton, what do you have to say about that? He doesn’t agree with you.” Here’s my 12-year-old talking about a well-known scientist. He said, “He can believe what he wants to, but it doesn’t’ change what I saw. I know what I saw.” And that’s where we stand. People have their right to make their own decision, God gave us all that right. But we know what we saw and heard and our experience.
Praise God; we never thought our story would help and encourage so many people, but God has given us the chance to do that, and and as long as He keeps giving us the chance to keep encouraging people and point them to Him, we’re just going to keep right down that road. He sent my son back to me from Heaven, He talked to me about my daughter in Heaven (we had a miscarriage) and that kind of hope — it just isn’t right to keep it to yourself, you have to share it with other people. And as long as we get to do that, we’re grateful.

Images of Jesus in ‘Heaven is for real’ painted by ‘God – Taught’ young girl Akiane Kramarik(pictures)

NEWS: Images of Jesus in ‘Heaven is for real’  painted by ‘God – Taught’ young girl Akiane Kramarik(pictures)

I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven” – Matthew 18:3.
The film “Heaven Is For Real,” based on the bestselling novel by Todd Burpo, tells the story of a young boy who visits heaven following a near-death experience. In the story, the boy, Colton, shares his journey with his family, describing heaven, angels, and meeting Jesus Christ.
Following Colton’s story, his skeptical father shows the boy several pictures of images, asking him to identify which one was Jesus. However, it’s not until the end of the film that Colton reveals the face of Jesus from a picture on his father’s laptop. An unrevealed character in the film referred to as the “young Lithuanian girl” paints the images of Jesus, but viewers are never told who the girl is, and how, exactly, she relates to Colton.
However, the Christian Newswire reveals that the “little Lithuanian girl” portrayed at the beginning of the film while painting a picture of Jesus Christ is famed child artist Akiane Kramarik.
At the age of 4, Akiane, who was born in Morris, Illinois, began seeing visions of Jesus, heaven, and creation. She started sketching the images she saw and write poetry at age four, eventually advancing to oil paints and acrylics to create stunning, religious-themed images.
“I am a self-taught painter,” she told Children’s Digest. “God is my teacher.”
In 2003 she appeared on the Oprah Show to discuss her work. Akiana, then 9, displayed her “favorite” painting; an oil portrayal of Jesus simply titled, “The Jesus Picture.” Upon Oprah asking Akiane where her gift came from, the young girl simply responded, “from God.”
According to an article in New Connexion magazine, Akiane was once found by her parents staring off into space with a smile on her face. Asked what she was doing, she simply answered, “I was with God again, and He told me to pray continually. He showed me where He lived. I was climbing transparent stairs; underneath I saw gushing waterfalls, and as I was approaching Him, His body was pure and intense light.
Although she was three at the time, she’ll always remember God’s first message to her. “He said, ‘You have to do this, and I’ll help you.’ He said, ‘Now you can help people.’ I said, ‘Yes, I will.’ But I said it in different words in my mind. I speak through my mind to Him,” she told Christianity Today.
Akiane revealed to Katie Couric earlier this year that she was raised in an atheist home where religion was rarely mentioned. Yet, she never questioned the existence of a God or his hand on her life.
“All of my work is influenced by my faith,” she told Katie, saying that she has carried that spiritual inspiration with her from childhood. “Everything I do has a meaning of spirituality.”
The artist says that she began painting because the visions she experienced as a child were “way too complex to put into words” and could only be related through art.
The Jesus portrait used in Heaven is for Real is an image titled “The Prince of Peace.” Akiane reveals that like Colton, she began seeing Jesus Christ and heavenly images at a very young age, and believes that both of them are specifically called by Jesus to perform his work.
To date, she has produced over 200 published art pieces and 800 literary creations along with two bestselling books.

Jeremy reveals powerful insightful lessons he learnt from studying ‘sinful’ old testament heroes

NEWS: Jeremy reveals powerful insightful lessons he learnt from studying sinful old testament heroes

Brooklyn Nets point guard Jeremy Lin has emphasized the importance of evangelism, as millions of lost souls will spend eternity in hell. Noah K. Murray-USA TODAY Sports
While reading through the Old Testament, Jeremy Lin was struck by how God uses imperfect people to fulfill His kingdom work — a truth the Christian athlete says gave him “serious power and security.”
In an email sent to his digital prayer group, the Taiwanese/American NBA star revealed that while studying the lives of Abraham, Jacob, Noah and other Bible “heroes,” he realized just how sinful they are were.
“Seriously, God has been really impressing on my heart that He continually uses broken, imperfect people,” he said. “I often put pressure on myself to be as close to perfect as I can otherwise God can’t use me. But the reality is that God uses sinful, doubtful and proud people all through Scripture.”
“Even with Abraham, he wasn’t willing to wait for God to fulfill His covenant so he took matters into his own hands,” Lin continued. “He also lied out of a lack of faith by saying his wife was his sister. I guess my encouragement to everyone is that we don’t have to be perfect. God loves us enough that He’s willing to include us in His kingdom work. He doesn’t need us, but He loves us so much that He’d rather use us than not. There is serious power and security when we understand our Father’s love!!”
The 29-year-old Brooklyn Nets point guard, whose 2017-18 NBA season ended prematurely due to a torn patellar tendon in his right knee, went on to ask for prayer for a “very productive” season.
“I’ve spent 5 straight months building a foundation for my body and knee in Vancouver, so I’m hoping to really take off in the next 5 months that are this offseason,” he said. “Specifically please pray that I’d be able to implement a lot of the new movement techniques and tons of body changes that we’ve made. It’s a daunting process to tackle so many improvements at once, but I’m hoping that everything will stick and get fully implemented into my game for good.”
The Christian athlete also asked readers to pray for the non-believers in his life.
“I’ve seen many friends get interested in Christianity, but it’s not as often that one of my friends dives headfirst into giving his/her life to Christ.” he said. “I know it’s God’s job to allow spiritual growth so please pray for the softening of some of my non-believing friends’ hearts.”
“Lastly, please continue to pray for our nation and world,” he concluded. “We’re surrounded by tragedy so please pray for our nation and world leaders. That God’s truth would be further lived out in this world!!”
Recently, Lin said he would like his legacy to be someone who “lived for God” and was “faithful” despite facing a series of challenges throughout his life and basketball career.
“My legacy with the world would be, I would want them to know that I lived for God, I was faithful in my life,” he told David Meltzer of Sports 1 Marketing. “I wasn’t perfect, but I always did my best and I tried to fix and right my wrongs and just do things the right way.”
“The second thing I’d like people to see is that I had a lot of fun and I really tried to create change, legitimate change, in people’s lives,” he added. “That could be my teammates, that could be the fans that met me, that could be fans who never met me, or just people who just love my story. Being a source of inspiration or motivation to them would be pretty cool.”
When asked about bridging the gap between the United States and China, Lin said he’s “very cognizant” of the power of his brand.
“That’s like my off-the-court job, is figuring out this platform and how to do it right and create a positive impact,” he said, adding that he acknowledges he’s in a “unique situation.”
“There’s many things that I’m able to do,” he said. “We talk a lot about how to make it right, what vision, what brand, what path we want to take, and it’s been enlightening … this is baptism by fire figuring it out … we spent a lot of it thinking about China and how we can help.”

NEWS: Kirk franklin’s son claims dad wants to kill him

kerrion & kirk franklin1

Oh Lord, what kind of mess is this? The estranged son of Gospel singer Kirk Franklin has made the outrageous claim that his famous father is trying to kill him!
Kerrion Franklin, 30, who has not had a good relationship with Kirk for many years, made the shocking allegation in an Instagram post which has now been deleted.
In the post, he wrote: “My own father is trying to kill me. If anything happens to me its@kirkfranklinsneaky ass. A lot of funny shit been happening and hes in LA right now hiding from me and ii havent heard from him. So I’m just leaving this here for safety purposes. I cant deal with this f**k shit on my own anymore. I’m done. My life is too valuable…in real time.’”
Kirk has yet to react to the allegation.
A bit of backstory… Kirk and his wife Tammy have two children together -daughter Kennedy (born in 1997) and a son named Caziah (born in 2000).
When they wed, each had one child from previous relationships: Kirk’s son Kerrion, born in 1988, and Tammy’s daughter Carrington (whom he legally adopted), born in 1989, per MTO.
Kerrion has been estranged from the family for many years and claims he’s always been the black sheep.
His accusation against Kirk comes a month after Franklin revealed his sister would be heading to prison for 30 years. Although he didn’t go into detail, the award-winning superstar stated that it had been a “rough week” for his family.
